SAF Wellness: Holistic Wellness for Underserved Women

About SAF Wellness
SAF Wellness is a UK-based Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to supporting the holistic health and wellness of  women of colour and women from low-income backgrounds. Our mission is to complement existing healthcare services by providing accessible, culturally sensitive wellness programmes that address the unique needs of these communities. We focus on delivering resources, education, support groups, projects, and services that empower women to achieve better health outcomes, advocate for their own well-being, and overcome healthcare disparities.

Our Approach

Whole-Person Wellness: We embrace a holistic approach that considers all aspects of a woman's life—physical, mental, emotional, social, environmental and financial well-being. This comprehensive strategy ensures that we address the interconnected factors that influence overall  wellness  and quality of life.

Preventive Focus

SAF Wellness is committed to preventing   health and wellness inequalities from accumulating over a lifetime. Our early interventions, educational resources, and continuous support help women build resilience, adopt healthy habits, and avoid preventable health challenges.

  • Complementary Care
By working alongside the healthcare system, SAF Wellness offers services that complement and extend traditional medical care, particularly for underserved communities. We aim to bridge healthcare gaps and promote health advocacy through our programmes.

SAF Wellness CIC Policies

1. Community Interest Test Policy

We ensure that all activities undertaken by SAF Wellness benefit the community of women of colour and low-income households. Our services, including health advocacy, wellness activities, and educational programmes, aim to address disparities in the current healthcare system and improve holistic health outcomes. Every year, we submit a Community Interest Statement as part of our reporting to demonstrate the public benefit of our work.

2. Asset Lock Policy

In line with the CIC regulations, SAF Wellness applies an asset lock to guarantee that any assets, including profits, are reinvested into the company or used for the benefit of the community. Should the company dissolve, all remaining assets will be transferred to another asset-locked organisation (e.g., another CIC or charity) to continue serving the public interest.

3. Governance and Board Policy

SAF Wellness is governed by a Board of Directors responsible for overseeing strategic decisions and ensuring the company operates for the benefit of the community. Directors act in the best interest of SAF Wellness and adhere to all legal responsibilities, including maintaining up-to-date records with Companies House. All decisions are guided by the company's mission to provide wellness services for women of colour and women from low-income backgrounds.

4. Financial Management Policy

We maintain transparent financial practices to ensure proper use of funds for the benefit of our target communities. SAF Wellness commits to filing annual accounts and CIC reports that detail financial performance and how profits are reinvested to improve wellness outcomes for women. We allocate resources towards projects that directly support women in overcoming health disparities and achieving wellness.

5. Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Policy

SAF Wellness is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all individuals, regardless of background, have fair access to our services. We focus on supporting women of colour and those from low-income households, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs met. We do not tolerate discrimination and actively promote diversity across all aspects of our work.

6. Safeguarding Policy

As SAF Wellness serves vulnerable women, including young women and new mothers, we take safeguarding seriously. All staff and volunteers undergo safeguarding training, and we have clear reporting mechanisms to ensure the safety and well-being of our participants. We prioritise the protection of all clients, ensuring that they feel safe in accessing our wellness services.

7. Health and Safety Policy

We are committed to ensuring a safe environment for all staff, volunteers, and participants. SAF Wellness complies with health and safety regulations, including conducting regular risk assessments for wellness programmes, workshops, and events. This includes safety measures for physical activities like movement classes and chair massage therapies, where necessary.

8. Data Protection and Confidentiality Policy

In compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), SAF Wellness collects, stores, and processes personal data responsibly and transparently. We ensure that all client information is kept confidential and only used for the purposes of delivering wellness services. Clients can trust that their personal data is safeguarded, and they have control over how it is used.

9. Complaints and Feedback Policy

We welcome feedback from clients, volunteers, and partners to continuously improve our services. SAF Wellness has a clear and accessible complaints procedure, allowing stakeholders to raise any concerns. We handle complaints fairly and transparently, using the feedback to refine our programmes and ensure high standards of service delivery.

10. Environmental and Sustainability Policy

Whenever possible, SAF Wellness strives to incorporate environmentally friendly practices into our operations. This includes the use of eco-friendly products in wellness kits, reducing waste at our events, and encouraging sustainable practices within the  community. Our goal is to minimise our environmental footprint while delivering impactful wellness services.

11. Volunteering and Employment Policy

SAF Wellness values the contributions of both volunteers and employees in fulfilling our mission. We follow fair recruitment practices, ensuring all staff and volunteers receive appropriate training and support. We comply with employment laws, including minimum wage regulations, and provide clear roles and responsibilities to all team members.

12. Conflict of Interest Policy

To maintain integrity and transparency, we require all directors, staff, and volunteers to declare any personal or financial interests that could influence decision-making. SAF Wellness has clear procedures in place to manage potential conflicts of interest to ensure that all decisions are made in the best interest of the organisation and the community it serves.

13. Fundraising and Donation Policy

SAF Wellness commits to ethical and transparent fundraising practices. We ensure that donors and grant providers receive clear information on how their contributions will be used to benefit the community. All funds raised go directly toward supporting our wellness services, with a focus on improving health outcomes for women of colour and those from low-income backgrounds.
